Man surrenders to police after stabbing reputed wife to death

Quincy Roache, the man who stabbed his reputed wife, Tasina Dazzle, to death late Friday night has surrendered to Police.

Roache, 38, is now at the Sparendaam police lockups, East Coast Demerara, pending charges.

The 28-year-old woman, resided at the Ujamma Housing Scheme at La Bonne Intention (LBI), East Coast Demerara (ECD) with Roache. The News Room understands that the woman’s six-year-old son lived with them.

Police Headquarters reported that the couple often had domestic issues.

At about 23:35 hrs on Friday, Dazzle’s cousin, who is a neighbour, heard the woman screaming. The cousin reportedly ventured outside and saw Dazzle running out of her yard, onto her bridge. Dazzle subsequently fell on the bridge and remained motionless.

Roache reportedly exited the yard and escaped.

Soon after, police officers visited the scene. Several stab wounds were seen about the woman’s body and she was taken to the Georgetown Public hospital where she was pronounced dead. The body is now awaiting an autopsy.

Police Headquarters reported that Roache turned himself in at the Turkeyen police station in Georgetown sometime after the incident. Based on information shared, the man was later transferred to the Sparendaam station.

Investigations are ongoing.
