Chopping incident leaves one dead, another injured
A 23-year-old man was brutally chopped to death in the village of Wairuni along the Berbice River, Region Six while his cousin was critically injured after also being chopped several times
Dead is Selmon King. His injured cousin who had one of his hands severed has been identified as 18-year-old Shane Osborne.
The News Room was informed that the incident occurred early on Monday while the men were at a friend’s residence at Wairuni imbibing.
It is alleged that there was an argument between two males and Osborne intervened. He was, however, pushed away and the suspect, armed with a cutlass, chopped Osbourne.
King attempted to intervene and was also attacked. The suspect chopped King mercilessly before he collapsed.
The suspect then escaped on foot. King and Osborne were transported to the New Amsterdam Hospital where King was pronounced dead and Osborne was admitted.
