ExxonMobil School Football: Defending champions Cummings Lodge, East Ruimveldt march into semis

The third ExxonMobil Boys and Girls Under-14 Schools Football tournament continued on Saturday and defending champions Cummings Lodge Secondary and East Ruimveldt Secondary had impressive quarter-final wins at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

Cummings Lodge, reigning champions of the Boys category, defeated Dolphin Secondary 5-2 as Duquan Thom helped himself to a brace via goals in the 30th and 40th minutes, while Tyrel Walcott (34th), Rovin Henry (32), Montell Marks (42nd) also got on the scoresheet for Cummings Lodge.

It was a tale of close battles in the boys’ matches on Saturday

Jason Sandiford (33rd) and Malachai Gowen (36th) brought some level of consolation for Dolphin Secondary.

Charlestown Secondary also got a big 5-1 over North Ruimveldt Secondary, compliments of goals from the trio of Nicholas Nieuelder (8th, 30th), Colwin Kissoon (40th, 42nd) and Dequan Cox (39th), while Dalon Wray had equalized for North in the 11th.

Ann’s Grove got the better of East Ruimveldt 3-0 led by Isaiah Pellew (16th, 26th) and Akeyl Nedd (49th), while Ronaldo Ramdass’ goal in the 40th led West Ruimveldt to a 1-0 goal over New Central High.

In the Girls’ division, Akeela Fraser scored in the third minute to keep East Ruimveldt’s title retention hopes alive by needling West Ruimveldt 1-0, and New Central High won 3-2 on penalty kicks after a scoreless draw with Tucville.

New Campbellville Secondary blew away Ann’s Grove 4-1, led by a sterling hat-trick from Michesha Osbourne (3rd, 7th, 9th) and a solitary strike from Jorcialy Sallina (43rd) as Keshaiya Tixey (42nd) scored for the East Coast Demerara unit.
