Guyana Amazon Warriors got their first point of the Hero Caribbean Premier League 2022, following a no-result against St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots on Sunday evening.
Match Seven of the tournament at Warner Park, St. Kitts, was abandoned without a ball bowled, owing to a wet outfield, with both teams earning a point each.
“Mother nature has had the final say with the inclement weather that came in earlier in the evening creating a few wet patches in very strategic and importance areas,” commentator Ian Bishop said on the live broadcast.
The game, set to start at 19:00h, was called off at 21:40h.
Both teams- Warriors and Patriots- have earned their points from rained out contests.
Warriors lost their opening game to Jamaica Tallawahs on Saturday, and Patriots’ two points have come from two abandoned matches, as the defending champions have also suffered two defeats.
Sunday’s contest concluded the St. Kitts and Nevis leg of the tournament with Tallawahs top of the table on four points, ahead on net run rate with Barbados Royals, who are also on four points.
Trinbago Knight Riders are third on three points, followed by Patriots, Warriors and St. Lucia Kings at the bottom with two defeats from as many games.
The tournament now heads to St. Lucia with the first game on the island billed for Wednesday between Barbados Royals and Trinbago Knight Riders from 10:00h and Jamaica Tallawahs versus St. Lucia Kings from 19:00h.
On Thursday, Guyana Amazon Warriors will face St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots from 10:00h.
