GDF corporal, 36, dies by suicide at Belladrum

The death of a Guyana Defence Force (GDF) corporal is being investigated by police after he was found with a wound to his throat at the Belladrum sea dam, West Coast Berbice.

Dead is 36-year-old Terry Fraser of Belladrum. According to the Police, the man died on Tuesday between 06:00hrs and 06:30hrs.

Police disclosed that Fraser’s child mother took out a restraining order against him due to domestic problems they were having.

On Tuesday, the man’s sister reported that she was at home when she received information from a friend that Fraser was seen running along Belladrum sea dam, shouting that he will kill himself.

The family then went to look for him and eventually, upon arriving at the sea dam they saw Fraser lying on his back and was bleeding from a wound to his throat.

He was rushed to the Fort Wellington Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Fraser’s body is at Bailey’s Funeral Parlour awaiting a post-mortem examination.
