Man, 27, pleads guilty on break and enter charges; jailed for two years

Carlos Hackett, a 27-year-old man, was sentenced to 48 months imprisonment for the offence of breaking into a police constable’s house.

Police Headquarters reported that Hackett was arrested on Sunday and charged on Tuesday for the offences of break and enter, and larceny contrary to Section 229 (a) of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act.

Carlene Singh, a 38-year-old Police Constable, resides at the house Hackett broke into.

Hackett appeared at the Diamond/Golden Grove Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday before Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman, where the charge was read to him. After pleading guilty, he was sentenced to 48 months imprisonment.
