Two men arrested by police moments after robbing minibus conductor

A 23-year-old of North Road, Lacytown, and a 24-year-old man of Parfaite Harmonie West Bank Demerara, were on Tuesday arrested after they robbed a man of his cell phone at Brickdam, Georgetown.

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) reported that at around 23:00 hrs, Quintin Crandon, 19, a minibus conductor, was on Cornhill and Brickdam Access Road in the vicinity of the #31 minibus park when he was attacked by the two suspects.

The man, who was working at the time, was dealt several cuffs about his body by the suspects. As a result he fell to the ground and one of the suspects took away his cellular phone, valued at $10,000, which was in his pants pocket before making good their escape.

A police patrol which was passing at the time gave chase behind the suspects and apprehended them.

The men were searched and Crandon’s cellular phone was recovered.

Both men are presently in custody assisting with investigations.
