A four-year-old child was on Tuesday found dead in a car just outside his home at Mahdia in Region Eight.
Dead is Kamal Ramsammy, of 111 Miles Mahdia.
The News Room understands that the child died on Tuesday between 08:15 hrs and 10:00 hrs.
It was revealed that on Monday, at about 19:00hrs, Ramsammy, who was not feeling well, was left at home in the care of his grandmother.
His mother left for work on a night shift and returned home on Tuesday morning at around 10:00hrs. Upon returning, she asked where he was. His grandmother said he was probably playing outside.
The mother, grandmother and a relative who visited the family on the said date, started looking for Ramsammy.
He was found lying motionless and appeared to be dead in the backseat of a motorcar which was parked next to their home.
Ramsammy was in the car with the doors closed and windows up, but the doors were not locked. The family raised an alarm and the child’s grandfather and another person in the area took Ramsammy out of the car.
He was taken to the Mahdia District Hospital, where Dr. Inniss seen, examined and pronounced him dead.
A suspected small burnt mark was seen on the deceased left side upper arm, which the doctor suggested could have caused from the leather/heat from the seat.
Blood was also seen coming from the nose and froth from the mouth.
The body was placed in the said hospital mortuary for storage and awaiting post mortem examination.
Police are investigating the incident.
