Boy, 4, drowns at Two Friends Village

A four-year-old boy of Two Friends Village, East Coast Demerara is now dead after he reportedly drowned on Saturday.

The young lad has been identified as Shane Samuels.

He was left in the care of his aunt while his mother, 38-year-old Donell Adams, a vendor, went to work on Saturday.

Police Headquarters reported that the incident occurred between 20:00hrs and 22:00hrs on Saturday.

The grieving mother told Police that she called constantly to check up her son and at about 08:00hrs, she was told that he was playing in the yard.

When she called again later, she was told her son was missing.

A friend later contacted her and said that Shane’s bicycle was found close to a trench.

Donell rushed home and was met with the devastating news; her son’s lifeless body was lying on the ground.

His tiny body was removed from the trench by his uncle Collin Chandler.

The matter was reported at the Clonbrook Police Outpost and an investigation was launched.

Police said no marks of violence was found. The area was canvassed for CCTV systems, but none was seen in the area.

The body is currently lying at Jerricks Funeral Home awaiting a post mortem examination.
