Ganesh Choonilall, a 35-year-old hire car driver of Airy Hall, Essequibo Coast was charged on Monday for failure to stop at an accident scene and failure to render assistance to the victim, Ameer Alli, 63.
Choonilall appeared at the Charity Magistrate Court before Magistrate Crystal Lambert, via Zoom. He pleaded not guilty and bail was refused.
He was remanded to prison until September 23, 2022.
Alli died after he was struck down by Choonilall on Adventure Public Road on September 15. Choonilall sped away from the scene and was later arrested by police.
