Police Sergeant dies hours after killing wife

Police Sergeant Rory Francis of Anna Regina Police Headquarters died by suicide on Friday at the Suddie Public Hospital hours after he killed his reputed wife Hannah Christine Boston.

According to a police statement, at about 09:05hrs, a woman visited the Police Station and reported that Francis was trying to kill her daughter at Riverstown, Essequibo Coast.

Sometime later, Regional Police Commander Superintendent Khemraj Shivbaran and other ranks proceeded to the mentioned area.

On arrival, Sergeant Francis’ car was found in a rice field with the windows up while Boston’s motionless body was seen about 10 feet from the vehicle, clad in a green and white stripe jacket and green skirt.

A black handbag was attached to her left hand and a plastic bottle was seen next to her right hand, suspected to contain poison.

Checks were made inside the car and Sergeant Francis was seen in the driver seat, in an inclined position, and in an unconscious state. He is suspected to have consumed a poisonous substance.

He was taken from the vehicle and rushed to Suddie Public Hospital where he later died and Boston was pronounced dead.

In the car, one black Samsung cell phone, one multi-coloured shirt and one grey trousers were found.

The crime scene is presently cordoned off and is being processed.
