Over 100lbs of ganja found in minibus, driver arrested

Officers of the Customs Anti Narcotic Unit (CANU) on Saturday intercepted a bus transporting 119 pounds of ganja and arrested the driver.

The CANU officers, acting on information received, conducted an operation on the Railway Embankment (Line Top) at Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara where they intercepted a Route 50 mini bus bearing license plate number BXX 6792.

A subsequent search of the minibus led to the discovery of several parcels of suspected cannabis.

Lal Bahadur ByJoo, 58, of Plantation Hope, Bath Settlement, West Coast Berbice was arrested and escorted to CANU headquarters along with the suspected narcotics where it tested positive for cannabis and had a total weight of 54.2 kg (119.4 pounds)
