Secondary school students were on Monday afforded the opportunity to interact with St. Lucia Kings Head Coach Daren Sammy and Barbados Royals batter Harry Tector at a CPL interaction coordinated by Angostura Chill.

Beverage giants Banks DIH Limited is the local distributor of Angostura Chill and officials of the company were on hand to welcome the cricketers ahead of a Question and Answer segment, some novelty cricket events and autograph signing at the GCC ground, Bourda.

In their opening remarks, Sammy and Tector urged the youngsters to follow the motto of hard work, not just in their cricketing aspirations, but life in general.

Students were drawn from three secondary schools in Demerara

The students, who were drawn from St. Joseph High School, Dolphin Secondary and Houston Secondary, were given an opportunity to pick the brain of the cricketers, while also getting them to share their experiences in the game, from their personal preparation before a match to dealing with failures and criticisms.

Communications Manager of Banks DIH Limited, Troy Peters, said the initiative was geared to get the youngsters to understand what goes into the making of an international cricketer.

It is the hope of Peters that the stories shared by Sammy and Tector will serve as an inspiration to the students, some of whom can potentially become professional cricketers in the future.
