A 41-year-old farmer on Friday admitted to the brutal cutlass attack carried out on a woman three years ago.
Fazal Osman, formerly of Mahaica, East Coast Demerara (ECD) appeared before Justice Jo-Ann Barlow at the Demerara High Court.
He admitted to attempting to murder the 22-year-old woman on February 24, 2019.
Osman will return to court on October 25, for the reading of a probation report followed by his sentencing.
According to reports, Osman and the victim shared a relationship but he was abusive towards her.
On the day in question, the victim was accompanied by a Rural Constable to Osman’s home to serve him with a restraining order.
Osman whipped out his cutlass and dealt the woman several chops to her face, hand, back and about the body.
The matter was reported to the police and Osman was later arrested.
