An accident between a truck and a car early Saturday morning on the Winifred Gaskin Public Road, Half Mile Wismar, Linden has left five persons injured.

Police Headquarters reported that Michael Bodson, a 27-year-old resident of Blueberry Hill, Linden, was driving motor car #PMM 2777 in the vicinity of New Silvercity Secondary School at around 03:54hrs when the truck drove into his lane.

According to the police report, the truck (GZZ 1667) was being driven by 28-year-old Andrew Ramsammy west along the southern side on Half Mile Public Road.

Ramsammy claimed that he drove into the lane of the car to avoid an electric wire that was on the road. In so doing, the left front portion of the car collided with the front of the truck.

As a result, the driver of the car and his four passengers received injuries. The passengers have been identified as Marney Major, 35; Oswel Marks, 31; Aseka Smith, 22; Ojay Albert, 26.

They were picked up by public spirited citizens and taken to the Linden Hospital Complex where they are now admitted.

The lorry driver is presently in police custody assisting with the investigation.
