Title favourites Christianburg Wismar Secondary suffered a one-nil defeat to North Ruimveldt Secondary when the GuyOil/Tradewind Tankers Boys Under-18 School League continued at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue, on Saturday.

The unbeaten streak of the Region 10 side was ended via a Jevon Pluck goal in the 62nd minute for North Ruimveldt. It was sweet revenge for the North boys, who lost to the said opposition in the recent Milo School Football final.

Other matches of the day saw President’s College edging Friendship 3-2 on the back of a brace from Ronoko Vaughn (37th and 67th) and support from Wilton Sabastian (70th), after Kevon Williams (30th) and Ravon Emmanuel (35th) gave Friendship the lead.

Golden Grove Secondary continued their winning rampage by defeating West Ruimveldt 3-1, compliments of goals from Kelon Croal (fourth), Nathan Saw (53rd) and Kelvin Richardson (70th), while Donavon Welcome (40th) had equalised for West Ruimveldt.

The only stalemate of the day was between Dolphin Secondary and Cummings Lodge Secondary, who played to a 1-1 deadlock.

Jequan Cole placed Dolphin ahead in the eighth minute, a lead which they kept for the next hour when Elijah Mendonca equalised.

The eight teams were drawn from the recently concluded Milo Schools Football tournament.

The teams will play each other once, at the end of which the school with the most points will be declared champion. A top prize of G$500,000 is at stake, while second will receive G$300,000, third G$200,000 and fourth $100,000.

The cash prizes aside, the winner and runner-up will be invited to participate in the KFC Invitational tournament, also coordinated by the Petra Organisation.

They will be joined by four other teams, two from overseas and two from the hinterland.
