The ninth edition of the Petra organised Courts Pee-Wee Football tournament will kick off on Saturday (October 8) at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue, and both organisers and sponsor want the Under-11 lads to have fun and build friendships.

Co-Director of the Petra Organisation, Troy Mendonca, told the gathering at the team briefing on Tuesday that Courts Guyana has given the players a platform to enjoy football and develop camaraderie with teammates and players from other schools.

He reminded the players that many current national youth players and even some in the senior programme would have sat in their seats and competed in the aforementioned tournament.

Representative of Courts Guyana, Christel VanSluytman, said they are truly pleased to be on board as they celebrate 29 years of business in Guyana and programmes such as these bring greater value to communities which aligns with their tagline of Brining Value Home.

The teams will be divided into six groups of four and the top two finishers from each section and the four best third-placed teams will advance to the elimination round.

The respective losers in the knockout section will progress to the plate division to battle for positions 5-16.

The winner of the tournament will receive the championship trophy, gold medals, and a pair of uniforms.

As an additional reward, Courts will reward each player of the winning team with an electronic tablet.

On the other hand, the runners-up will collect a trophy, silver medals, and six balls.

Meanwhile, the third-place finisher will take home a trophy, and four balls, while the fourth-place side will walk away with a trophy.
