19-Y-O fined, sentenced to six months in jail for marijuana possession

Jaheim Bowen, a 19-year-old porter of Bareroot Village, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was fined $283,320 and sentenced to six months imprisonment for possession of a quantity of marijuana.

Police Headquarters, in a statement, said the teenager was arrested on Tuesday for the offence of Possession of Narcotics for the purpose of trafficking: Contrary to Section 5(1)(a)(i) of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Control Act Chapter 10:10.

The amount of marijuana in his possession was not disclosed.

Bowen later appeared, virtually, at the Linden Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Wanda Fortune where the charge was read to him.

He pleaded guilty and was later sentenced.
