EdYou FM, Guyana’s education-focused radio station, has expanded to Lethem in Region Nine (Upper Takutu- Upper Essequibo), and will soon be broadcasting to children and adults all across Guyana’s southern region.

This channel falls under the purview of the Ministry of Education.

Based on information provided to the News Room, Region Nine is the latest location in the expanding radio broadcast signal. The Central Lethem station was turned on by EdYou FM installation engineers on Thursday.

Head of EdYou FM Phillip Williams

The 99.9 FM Frequency brings to residents of Region Nine, non-stop, scheduled educational and entertainment content.

“The plan is to, in the coming weeks, ensure that the coverage is wider in that region. We will commission sites in Karasabai, Aishalton and Annai,” Head of EdYou FM Phillip Williams said.

EdYou FM is part of the ministry’s mission to provide youths with equitable access to education, despite their geographical location. It joins other initiatives, such as the expanded Guyana Learning Channel and the provision of textbooks, geared at helping children learn.
