Local company Sterling Products Limited on Friday threw its support behind the Petra Organisation’s Courts Pee Wee Under-11 football tournament, by covering expenses related to travel for outlying teams.

At a simple but significant ceremony at the company’s Providence head office, the importance of corporate support to the development of sport was highlighted by Co-Director of the Petra Organisation, Troy Mendonca.

“Sport can only be successful with the support of these agencies and the government, so we at Petra and the entire football fraternity are very happy to have Sterling Products joining us in this venture,” Mendonca said.

The football administrator related that over the next six Saturdays over 300 of the country’s brightest football prospects will be on show, as an avenue is being provided for them to showcase their skills.

Mendonca added that the support of Sterling Products Limited will go a far way in shaping the success of the competition, which has attracted over 20 schools.

Marketing Manager of the company, Dellon Lynch, touched on how enthused Sterling Products Limited is to foster such a partnership and provide a platform for the country’s young talent to be nurtured.

“It is indeed an honour for Sterling Products to be part of such an amazing project,” Lynch said.

He lauded the Petra Organisation and its Directors Mendonca and Marlan Cole for their vision and leadership in the execution of age-group football, noting the significance of their contribution to the development of the game locally.

The 2022 edition of the Courts Pee Wee competition kicked off on Saturday at the Ministry of Education ground on Carifesta Avenue, Georgetown.
