Suspect in Kitty multi-million-dollar gold heist arrested in Suriname

After a year on the run, Dequan King, who was wanted in connection to the daring robbery committed on Wallison Enterprise, Gordon Street, Kitty in August 2021, has been nabbed by the authorities in Suriname.

King, called “Titus”, or “Quanie”, of ‘D’ Field, Sophia, Georgetown, who was also wanted for murder in French Guiana, was arrested on Sunday night Suriname by the Regional Assistance Team in Paramaribo in collaboration with the National Security Directorate, Waterkant News reported.

“Last week he is said to have been involved in a murder case in French Guiana, in which a man was shot dead. After the murder, the suspect fled to Suriname,” the Surinamese news agency reported.

The suspect will be deported from the country in accordance with the applicable procedures and extradited to the neighboring country.

King was named as the getaway driver of the motorcar which was used to transport the suspects to and from the robbery scene on August 5, 2021.

The men reportedly posed as customers and robbed Wallison Enterprise of $38 million in local currency and $20 million worth of raw gold property of Francis Santos Lumes.

Meanwhile, three other suspects, Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Sergeant Keyon King, 32, of Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo along with two the company’s security officers Delroy Jackson called “Bug”, 36, of Golden Grove, East Coast Demerara and Peon Lee called “Nino Brown”, 35, of Mocha, East Bank Demerara were all charged for their involvement in the robbery.

However, after spending five months on remand Lee was released on $450,000 bail by a High Court Judge.

The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras. Police made a breakthrough in this investigation following the discovery of a total of $18M which was found buried in Keyon’s backyard.

    The longest rope does come to an end. I am happy that that suspect has been nabbed at last and I do hope that the appropriate justice would be served. It is said that once “blood is on somebody’s hand”that person goes on and on to kill. This seems to be the case with this individual. Murder seems to be an ongoing thing with him.

    Well, he will not be happy in a French jail if he gets convicted of murder. They serious bad about that.
