Agricola teen missing; frustrated family seeking answers

Fifteen-year-old Colet Harris of Agricola, East Bank Demerara, has been missing since Sunday, October 9, after she left home to run an errand.

The teen’s grandfather, Colin Harris told the News Room that she lived with a relative, who informed him and her parents that on Sunday she left the home during the afternoon. She has not returned home since.

The man said her father currently resides overseas and her mother lives at Parika. The young lady is living with the relative to facilitate easier access to school.

“She was missing since Sunday. I think she left to go somewhere, on an errand I think and never returned,” Harris said during a telephone interview.

The family, in an effort to locate the missing teen, has lodged a report with the police and has made several posts on social media.

“We reported to the police and well you know they are doing what they could, but we actually trying to get down to the bottom to find out what really it is,” Harris said.

He said it is unclear whether she had any issues at school.

Harris said the family is frustrated: “We are trying to find out what it is. We don’t know if there was a problem at home. We don’t know…she had no phone, no clothes, so it’s kind of confusing.”

“We are hoping and praying that she is okay. We just want to know that she is okay. So at least she can come home, make contact.”

Anyone who knows the whereabouts for the teen is asked to make contact with the nearest police station or contact her family on 667-0014, 629-2438 or 612-4397.
