A man and a woman were on Wednesday arrested after they were caught with a quantity of stolen items while on their way to Georgetown.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) said the duo was apprehended at Enmore Public Road, East Coast Demerara, in a route 44 minibus.
It was reported that at 10:30hrs, at Good Hope, Mahaica, Diana Agrippa, 67, secured her home and went to the shop. Shortly after she returned home and observed that her western door was pried opened.
A search of the house revealed that several items were missing. The missing items were a Dell laptop valued $140,000, a cellphone with a Digicel sim card, valued $16,000, a Samsung cellphone value $45,000, a Tablet valued $20,000, two dresses valued $8,000, a pair of sanders valued $5,000, a Dove cream valued $2,000, two deodorants valued $1,000, a portable DVD player and six pairs of panties, valued $2,000.
The matter was reported and the police responded. The police then acted on information received and found that the two suspects boarded a mini bus and were heading to Georgetown.
As a result, ranks working in collaboration with the Vigilance and Mahaica patrols, found both suspects at Enmore. A search was conducted on both individuals and the items mentioned were recovered, in their presence.
The police said both suspects were wanted for a similar offense. They are presently in custody assisting with investigations.
