    Shawn Persaud called Shawn Yhap, a 46-year-old man of Lot 67 Pike Street, Kitty, Georgetown was sentenced to four years imprisonment after he admitted to two break and enter and larceny offences.

    Police Headquarters reported that Persaud was first arrested and charged on October 12 after he attempted to rob and break into the home of Pricillia Ramcharran.

    Following his arrest, he appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court, East Coast Demerara (ECD) before Magistrate Alisha Georgetown on Friday.

    The charges were read to him and he pleaded guilty. As such, he was sentenced to two years imprisonment for those offences.

    Later on Friday, Persaud and 18-year-old Aaliya Gonsalves, also known as Aaliya Persaud, appeared before Magistrate R Liverpool at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court.

    They were charged with the offence of break and enter and larceny which occurred on October 12 and committed against Diana Agrippa.

    Persaud pleaded guilty and was sentenced to another two years imprisonment. This will commence after his first sentence.

    Gonsalves, on the other hand, pleaded not guilty, and was placed on $20,000 bail. Her next court date is November 9, 2022.
