President rejects ‘nonsensical narrative’ from ‘false prophets’

President Dr. Irfaan Ali sought to assure Guyanese that each community will experience development amid Guyana’s ongoing transformation, rejecting what he termed a “nonsensical narrative” that only some communities will benefit.

The Head of State, while addressing a gathering in Region Six (East Berbice- Corentyne), said that numerous developmental initiatives and plans are being pursued across the country.

But these initiatives and plans, according to Dr. Ali, are not excluding any individual or group. In fact, he posited that a concerted effort is being made to guarantee that all persons benefit.

“I intend to go to every single community and deliver the truth, deliver the platform on which this country is developing so that they don’t have to listen to the false prophets who continue to spread hate and division ,” the President said.

The ‘One Guyana’ platform, he said, is the vehicle through which development is being spread to all communities.

While the government seeks to push local development, the President lamented that their efforts are hindered by naysayers.

Speaking directly to those individuals, President Ali emphatically said, “Stop your nonsensical narrative that only one set of people are benefitting.

“You make no sense anymore.”

This is not the first time the President has responded to critics.

Previously, he noted that he welcomes constructive criticism that will help the government to improve its work.

He, however, said that baseless or uninformed criticisms meant to stir up division will not be heeded.

And he said that government’s initiatives, from the provision of online scholarships to housing allocations, evidence how fair these plans and programmes strive to be.

On Friday, he assured the gathering, “We will continue to work with all the communities.

“… we are together building a Guyana that is stronger and better, a Guyana that is delivering for all the people.”
