Cop succumbs to head injuries days after accident

A 28-year-old Guyana Police Force Constable died on Wednesday at the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was hospitalised with injuries, he received in an accident on Friday last along the Enmore, East Coast Demerara Public Road.

The News Room understands that Roger Clinton Bowen suffered severe head injuries and was admitted to the High Dependency Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Since the accident, Bowen was in and out of consciousness until he died at about 06:30hrs on Wednesday, Regional Commander Kurleigh Simon told the News Room.

Bowen who was stationed at the Cove and John Police Station, ECD, was heading home on his motorcycle when he collided with a motorcar.

Commander Simon could not say if Bowen was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The driver of the motorcar was arrested and placed on $100,000 station bail as the investigations into the accident continue.

Persons took to social following the news of Bowen’s death and described him as a quiet person.

    My deepest sympathy goes out to Mr. Bowen’s relatives. It is very sad not only to lose him but also how he died. I do hope that justice will be properly served. May his soul rest in peace
