    National Junior badminton championship starts Thursday

    National Junior badminton championship starts Thursday

    The country’s up-and-coming badminton players will be on show over the next three days, when the Guyana Badminton Association stages the National Junior Tournament.

    Preliminary matches will be played on Thursday and Friday, with the category finals set for Saturday.

    All matches will be held at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, with action happening between 17:00h and 20:00h on the first two days.

    On Saturday, games will be take place between 10:00h and 19;00h.

    This tournament will see players facing off in Boys Singles, Girls Singles, Boys Doubles and Girls’ Doubles games in the U-11, U-13, U-15, U-17 and U-19 categories.

    “Children participating are from the Berbice Multilateral High School, Queen’s College, Marian Academy, St. Rose’s High School, ISA Islamic School, Georgetown International Academy and the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport’s Nursery Badminton Academy,” the Association said in a release.

    Players excelling at this tournament will be chosen to represent Guyana at the Inter-Guinea Games to be held on November 25-27, 2022.

    The tournament is sponsored by the National Sports Commission.
