Berbice man in police custody over unlicensed firearm, ammo

A 32-year-old mechanic was on Monday arrested by police ranks after he was found with a .32 pistol and seven live rounds of ammunition.

Nicosi Henry of Nurney Village, Berbice, is currently in police custody after ranks in Berbice responded to a report of threatening behaviour at abour 23:15 hrs at Nurney Village.

On arrival at the location, the ranks observed the man was sitting aback a house on a dam. The ranks approached the man and told him of the reason for their visit to the loaction.

The police then conducted a search on the man which resulted in the .32 pistol along with a magazine containing seven live rounds being found on the ground next to the man.

He was arrested and escorted to the Whim Police Station along with the firearm and ammunition.

The police are still investigating the matter.
