Man who allegedly stole construction materials, equipment granted bail

A 20-year-old man was granted bail in the sum of $80,000 after pleading not guilty to a simple larceny charge on Tuesday.

Osanti Benjamin of Laing Avenue, Georgetown appeared at the Diamond/Golden Grove Magistrate’s Court before Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman and denied the allegation of simple larceny committed on Aronco Construction Inc on September 23, 2022 at Providence, East Bank Demerara.

The court heard that the accused stole one ‘ransom’ valued at $600,000, one sling cement valued at $70,000, one 2-inch water pump valued at $70,000, and a two-wheel Barrow valued at $30,000.

The Magistrate granted him bail and the matter was adjourned to November 11, 2022, for statements and reports.
