The final eight teams in the ExxonMobil Futsal tournament organised by New Era Entertainment have been finalised following the latest round of matches at the Retrieve Hard Court in Linden.
Quarter-final action on Friday evening will commence at 19:00h with YMCA up against One Side FC, followed by DC Ballers facing Achievers FC from 20:00h, Silver Bullets versus Team Unknown from 21:00h and Warriors FC tackling Team R9 from 22:00h.
The winning teams will advance to the semi-finals, slated for Saturday evening. The final is set for November 5.
In the latest set of matches, DC Ballers defeated Arima FC 12-4, Team Unknown FC topped Nut Man All-Stars 7-5, Warriors trounced One Mile Stars 9-2, One Side FC prevailed 12-7 over Police FC, Silver Bullets got past Goal Getters 5-3 and YMCA edged Young Kings FC 3-2.
Director of New Era Entertainment, Aubrey Major Jr., said: “As a fellow Lindener, I am proud to be able to organise this event with my team because throughout the tournament thus far we continue to see the level of talent that Linden is capable of producing. All of the teams that participated are solely Linden football clubs and to see young men like myself pay an interest in participating in sports, I am extremely happy.”
The winning team of this year’s futsal tournament will be awarded G$500,000, second-place G$200,000 and third G$100,000. A trophy will be awarded to the fourth-place finisher.
A community improvement project involving the winning team will be undertaken after the tournament as part of the ExxonMobil sponsorship.
