11th Guyana Open golf title for Persaud; London retains female trophy

Avinash Persaud stamped his authority on the GTT Guyana Open golf tournament, winning it for a record 11th time, while Shanella London maintained her hold on the female title when the premier local tournament was contested at the weekend.
In the 0-9 Handicap, Persaud dethroned his brother Avinda Kishore, finishing the two-day event with Gross 150, Net 148.

Jalen Raman of Fiji took second spot with Gross 152 and Net 152, while Ridel Doekoe of Suriname ended third with Gross 160, Net 158.

Raman had the Best Gross (72) score on day one, while Persaud’s Gross score of 76 was the best on day two. Aleem Hussein (72) and Rakesh Harry (71) had the Best Net scores on day one and day two respectively.

On the female side, defending champion London had a Gross of 171, while former champion Christine Sukhram placed second with Gross 175 and Julie Stephenson third with Gross 183.

London recorded the Best Gross (86) on day one, while Sukhram (83) had the Best Gross on day two. In terms of Net scores in the Ladies segment, Eureka Giddings (75) topped day one and Sabi Dhori (58) day two.

In the 10-18 Handicap, Seupaul Suknanan had the Best Gross of 166 and Ayube Subhan the Best Net score of 143, while in the 19-28 Handicap, Roy Dhori had the Best Gross of 181 and Best Net of 135.
