GuyOil/Tradewind Tankers School Football League wraps up Sunday

The Guyana Oil Company (GuyOil)/Tradewind Tankers School Football League will wrap up this Sunday, with the top four teams in action at the Ministry of Education ground on Carifesta Avenue, Georgetown.

The points leaders after the League stage- Golden Grove and Christianburg Wismar Secondary- will clash in the grand championship game, while Cummings Lodge will face President’s College in the third place playoff.

Action is set to kick off at 15:00h in the Petra Organisation-coordinated tournament, which has received support from the Ministry of Education and MVP Sports.

In the final two League games played recently, Dolphin Secondary crushed North Ruimveldt 14-0 and West Ruimveldt completely outplayed Friendship 6-0.

Jamal Williams led the charge for Dolphin Secondary, netting four goals, while Nicholas Tappin and June Charles both scored a hat-trick.

Requan Kerwin, Jerry Burnett, Codwell Peters and Jequan Cole completed the rout with a goal apiece.

For West Ruimveldt, three players scored a double.

Elijah Sattaur scored the first two goals in the sixth and 17th minutes, while Nicholas James netted in the 60th and 70th minutes, and Mark Thomas scored in the 18th and 26th minutes.

The eight teams in this year’s League were drawn from the recently concluded Milo Schools Football tournament, another venture of the Organisation.

A top prize of G$500,000 is at stake, while second will receive G$300,000, third G$200,000 and fourth G$100,000.

The cash prizes aside, the winner and runner-up will be invited to participate in the KFC Invitational tournament, also coordinated by the Petra Organisation.

They will be joined by four other teams, two from overseas and two from the hinterland.
