SUPER50: Imlach, Johnson and Shepherd lead Harpy Eagles to second win

Guyana Harpy Eagles notched their second win of the ongoing Regional Super50 tournament via a comfortable five-wicket victory over Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Trinidad and Tobago, on Saturday evening.

The win moves Guyana into third as they battle again with Windward Volcanoes in Tarouba on Monday in another day/night fixture from 14:00h.

The top two sides in the groups will progress to the semi-finals in Antigua.

The decision to insert CCC paid virtue as they restricted the students to 206 all out in 48.3 overs led by Man-of-the-Match Romario Shepherd, who took 4-19 in 7.3 overs.

Kevin Sinclair bagged 2-48 from his 10 overs while there was a wicket each for Clinton Pestano (1-30), Gudakesh Motie (1-35), and Veerasammy Permaul (1-43).

Captain Denesh Ramdin led the fight for CCC with 38 (2x4s) from 58 balls while Demario Richards, who retired hurt on 36 (6x4s; 1×6) from 43 balls, and Navin Bidaisee 30 (3x4s) off 55 balls were the other main contributors.

After the early departure of Anthony Bramble (13), Tagenarine Chanderpaul (15), and Shimron Hetmyer (9), Tevin Imlach and Leon Johnson took the total from 56-3 in the 16th over to 136-4 in the 34th.

Imlach ended unbeaten on 63 (6x4s) from 100 balls while Johnson was dismissed for 51 (6x4s) from 68 balls.

Sherfane Rutherford cracked  37 (1×4; 4x6s) from 26 balls to seal the important victory.

Michail Powell took 2-37 from six overs and got support from Matthew Forde (1-21), Amari Goodridge (1-27) and Romario Greaves (1-46).
