Agricola accident victim identified as 66-Y-0 man

The victim in Monday morning’s accident on the Agricola Public Road, Greater Georgetown has been identified as 66-year-old Imtiaz Isahack of Eccles, East Bank Demerara.

Police Headquarters reported that the accident occurred at about 08:10hrs and involved motorcar PYY 1162 which was being driven by a 50-year-old man from Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke Highway. The driver is in police custody assisting with the investigation.

According to the police report, Isahack was reportedly crossing the road when he was struck down.

The driver of the car alleged that Isahack “walked into his path” without looking and the front left of the vehicle collided with him. He was flung into the air and sustained several injuries to the head and body. He was pronounced dead at the scene by EMTs.

The man’s body is at the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Police said a breathalyzer test conducted on the driver showed no trace of alcohol.
