Corentyne man, 21, dies days after accident
A 21-year-old man died on Monday, two days after being involved in an accident on the No.75 Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice.
Dead is Afsar Wazidally of Scottsburg Village, Upper Corentyne.
Police Headquarters reported that Wazidally was driving motor car PWW 5659 when he crashed into motor car PPP 8156 owned and driven by Mary Ann Lionel.
The man had reportedly lost control of his vehicle.
The News Room understands that Wazidally was heading north along the No.75 public road when he allegedly overtook three vehicles, lost control and crashed into the front portion of Lionel’s car which was heading in the opposite direction.
Police said Wazidally was speeding.
Both drivers sustained injuries and were rushed to the Skeldon Hospital by public-spirited citizens.
They were later transferred to New Amsterdam Public Hospital and admitted.
Wazidally was subsequently transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he succumbed on Monday at about 13:30 hrs.
