Man pleads guilty to 2014 robbery/murder of Cuyuni businesswoman

Nathan Anthony Stoute has pleaded guilty to the murder of 34-year-old mother of two, Sheniza Khan Bhola, who was fatally stabbed during a robbery at her Rock Creek, Cuyuni River shop in 2014.

Stoute, 24, of Helena No. 2 Mahaica, East Coast Demerara appeared before Justice Jo-Ann Barlow at Suddie High Court for the capital offence of murder.

He admitted that between February 26 – 27, 2014, he murdered the woman during the course of a robbery.

Stoute was remanded to prison until December 7, 2022, for sentencing.

On December 31, 2018, Stoute was arrested by police at a Berbice location after he had returned to Guyana from Suriname where he fled after allegedly committing the gruesome murder.

According to reports, Bhola, who resided at Parfait Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, was found dead in her shop, which was locked from the outside. She was found with three stab wounds.

The gruesome discovery was made at around 10:00 hrs on February 27, 2014, after a young man visited the shop and found it locked.

Stoute, at that time, was employed by Bhola. Police had issued a wanted bulletin for his arrest.

    I do hope that justice prevails. It is like biting the hand that feeds you. Ms. Bhola was kind enough to take Mr. Stoute into her employ and he decided that the best way to repay her for her kindness to him was to kill her. He deserves the maximum penalty.
