Enterprise man arrested over possession of unlicensed firearm, cocaine


A 22-year-old man from Enterprise, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was on Thursday arrested by Police during an intelligence-led Police exercise.
Ranks from the Vigilance Police Station (ECD) conducted the exercise at Enterprise, resulting in the arrest of the man after a firearm and suspected cocaine were found on him, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) reported.

The man was searched by the Police at around 6:45 hrs, during which a cream-coloured rock-like substance suspected to be cocaine and a .25 Beretta pistol was found in the crotch of the man’s pants.

The man was told of the offence committed, cautioned, arrested, and escorted to the Vigilance Police Station. The said firearm and suspected narcotic were also seized.

The suspected narcotic was weighed and amounted to two grammes. The man also provided officers with information that resulted in the arrest of another resident of Enterprise.

The police have launched an investigation into the matter.
