Secondary school teacher collapses and dies while on duty

A female teacher attached to the Skeldon Line Path Secondary school in Region Six collapsed and died while on duty at the institution on Friday.

The teacher has been identified as Dharmini Prasad called ‘Tina’, of Skeldon, Upper Corentyne, Berbice.

The News Room understands that the school was hosting its annual graduation exercise on Friday.

The teacher’s sister, who recently topped the region at this year’s Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC), was expected graduate as the valedictorian at the same school on Friday.

While the circumstances surrounded the incident is unclear, the News Room understands that Prasad collapsed and was rushed to the Skeldon Hospital in an unconscious state where she subsequently died.
