24/7 Police patrol in Region Two during Christmas season
The Police will carry out 24/7 patrols in Region Two (Pomeroon- Supenaam) during the Christmas season.
This was disclosed by Regional Commander Superintendent Khemraj Shivbaran during the launch of the Region’s Christmas Policing Plan on Tuesday.
Speaking to regional officials and members of the business community, Superintendent Shivbaran said that from November 15, 2022 to January 15, 2023, there will be an increase in Police presence in the region and every community.
He said there will be day and night police patrol on foot, bicycles, motorcycles, and vehicles.
According to Superintendent Shivbaran, continuous and proactive security measures will be in place to ensure all citizens, businesses, shoppers and visitors enjoy safety and security in the region.
He said it is Police’s intention to utilise all resources in the Division to establish a strong security network as it relates to crime and traffic.
“We will reduce all forms of possible traffic congestions, incidents, accidents and any possible crime [and] at the same time maintain a free flow of traffic and gathering of intelligence,” Superintendent Shivbaran said.
Region Two is divided into station districts and will be managed by officers and inspectors respectively.
New Police huts will be placed at strategic locations at Anna Regina, Charity and Supenaam.
“There will be an increase of Police ranks assisting the neighborhood police, community policing group members and private security services,” Shivbaran said.
Regional Chairman Vilma De Silva congratulated the Police Force on the plans and said that the Regional Democratic Council supports the plan.
