Body found under bridge: police suspect no foul play
One day after a body was found under a bridge on Brickdam, Georgetown, investigators say no foul play is suspected.
On Wednesday, the decomposed body of an unidentified man was discovered under the bridge in front of Schuler and Gomes Optical Service. Police said the man appeared to be between 45 – 50 and was clad in long black pants and a multi-coloured jersey.
According to Dr Don Gomes, a 65-year-old eye specialist, on Tuesday he started to receive a pungent scent from under his bridge.
The matter was reported to Police after the stench persisted on Wednesday.
“The body was removed from under the bridge and examined and no mark of violence was seen. No foul play is suspected at this stage,” the Police reported.
The body is at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home waiting to be identified and a post-mortem examination to be conducted.
