U-15 cricket: Ramesh leads West Demerara to victory over East Bank

The Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) Under-15 Inter-Association 50-over tournament got underway Friday and it was West Demerara, who defeated host East Bank, by 170 runs at Farm Ground.

West Demerara made full use of being inserted to bat as they reached 221 from 41 overs led by number-six batsman, Shakar Ramesh.

Ramesh struck 72 while Mahendra Mohan made a composed 43 to fightback against the likes of Keshna Singh, who grabbed 4-16 from 10 overs while there was a wicket a piece for Roupie Rajaram and Navindra Singh.

In response, East Bank was bowled out for just 51 in 21.1 overs with Rajaram being the lone lad to reach double-figures with a score of 11.

Mohan returned with the ball to claim 3-7 while Patrice Frazer took 3-9 and Ramesh collected 3-10.

Saturday’s matches will see Georgetown battle East Bank at Queen’s College while East Coast faces West Demerara at Buxton Ground.
