Georgetown, East Coast record big wins in DCB U-15 tournament

Georgetown and East Coast joined West Demerara in the winners’ row for the Demerara Cricket Board (DCD) Under-15 Inter-Association 50-over tournament with comprehensive victories over the weekend.

Led by Emmanuel Lewis, Georgetown defeated East Bank by 306 runs on the DLS method while East Coast also got the better of East Bank by seven wickets.

At Queen’s College ground, Georgetown posted a mammoth 365-8 with skipper Lewis carving out a 103 inclusive of ten sixes and three fours.

Lewis got support from Trilok Nanan (52) and Lomar Seecharran (42) while Navindra Singh bagged 4-37. Roupie Rajaram, Alex Singh, and Dilshan Latchman each got a wicket.

East Bank struggled in reaching 59 for 7 from 28 overs before the rain came and ended the match.

Rajaram led the lone fight with the bat via a top score of 20 as Darwin Larose claimed 2-9 and Rovaldo Pereira took 2-15.

Trilok Nanan made 52 for Georgetown

At Buxton Ground, East Coast aced their chase of 58 after bowling out East Bank for 57 in 17 overs in a contest that was reduced to 35 overs due to rain.

For East Bank, Keshan Singh was the lone hand to reach double figures, 13, captain Mickel Sharma snatched 4-2 from one over and got backed up by Udesh Jaikarran (3-17) and Kyle Gibson (2-18).

With no scoreboard pressure, Munesh Outar top scored with 15 while Sharma returned with the bat to make 12 as Keshna Singh, Roupie Rajaram, and Dilshan Latchman each bagged a wicket.

The action continues Wednesday with Georgetown hosting East Coast at Queen’s College ground.
