More than 200 companies in 2023 ‘Who’s who’ business directory

ActionINVEST Caribbean Inc., on Sunday evening, launched the fourth edition of the Who’s Who in Guyana Business directory at a reception hosted at the Guyana Marriott Hotel. Alongside dignitaries and special invitees across all economic sectors, an exhibition was held with representatives of CG United, The New Guyana School, ACI Consulting, NSBOmega Guyana Inc. and other prominent Guyanese companies.

Dr. Vishnu Doerga, Chairman of ActionINVEST Caribbean Inc., explained that the launch of the fourth edition and its publishing was borne from the lens of private sector investment, through which this directory holds key insights of fourteen industries across the Guyanese economy, information-packed on companies offering goods and services within each of the sectors.

Retrospectively, Dr. Doerga spoke of humble beginnings and the production of the first edition of the Who’s Who in Guyana Business directory which began from just a conversation with former British High Commissioner to the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, Greg Quinn. In pursuit of entrepreneurship, he encouraged Guyanese to view flowing business opportunities with a “glass” large enough to fill. Further, he expressed gratitude to the distribution team having circulated over 10 000 copies of the third edition in 2021 which were placed at every conference held in Guyana, Suriname and internationally at the Offshore Technology Conference in Houston Texas, as well as the Business Excellence Forums in the USA. He acknowledged the Centre for Local Business Development, GInvest and the Guyana Tourism Authority for their unwavering support.

In conjunction with the launch of the Who’s Who in Guyana Business directory, was the reveal of Who’s Who News located on the whoswho.gy website. Here, users can access the latest news on industries and companies first-hand from in-house editors. Currently, the website has a digital footprint of over one million views and 20 000 clicks garnered over the past year.

During the launch, Mr. Faizal Ally, CEO of the A. Ally’s franchise received an award based on the company’s achievement of the highest impressions. Mr. Martin Cheong, General Manager of SBM Offshore, was the recipient of the company award for most clicks.

The cover of the Who’s Who in Guyana Business 2023 edition is a dynamic one – representing the flora and fauna of Guyana’s heavily dense ecosystem, the booming oil and gas industry, and snapshots of the agriculture and construction sectors. Ms. Divya Doerga, editor of the Who’s Who; Mrs. Jane Miller OBE, British High Commissioner; Mr. Peter Ramsaroop, Head of GOInvest; and Honourable Minister Oneidge Walrond, Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce unveiled the cover.

Mrs. Jane Miller displayed her enthusiasm at the growth of the Who’s Who, through which she reflected on the launch of the three prior editions at the British High Commissioner’s residence which started from 70+ companies present in the directory, and now, a whopping 200+. She highlighted the increased likelihood of more British business entities coming to invest in Guyana since the lift of the visa requirement earlier in November, especially with direct flights from the United Kingdom.

Canadian High Commissioner to Guyana, Mr. Mark Berman, was animated about the investments the newer generations are making to add to the value of the economy. Inclusively, Mr. Peter Ramsaroop mentioned the value ActionINVEST Caribbean in its own right, strengthens the perspective of beginning partnerships.

With the new e-Directory available online at whoswho.gy, and the whoswho.gy/news launched alongside the hard copy of the 2023 edition, business stakeholders have a wealth of knowledge at their fingertips.
