GMR&SC announces lap and track record-holders at South Dakota
The Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) earlier this month held its first-ever race event on the recently extended South Dakota Circuit, which is now 1.6 miles, putting Guyana in a position to host international standard racing.
“As with any brand new circuit or circuit layout of any type, new lap records and track records would have been set over the course of this two-day event,” the GMR&SC said.
“These records are of the two following types: 1. Lap Record – these are records which are set by each individual class and are set only during an official race. 2. Overall Track Record – this is a record of the fastest time ever recorded at the track by any vehicle during any official session (practice, qualifying or race) using official timing equipment only.”
Among the new record-holders are the father-son duo Mark and Matthew Vieira, Mark Williams, Kristian Boodoosingh and Danny Persaud.
