Laing Avenue shooting: Men wanted for death of construction worker nabbed in Berbice
Police have arrested two of the men who were engaged in a shootout at Laing Avenue, West Ruimveldt, Georgetown on November 11, 2022, resulting in the death of construction worker Dexter McFarlane.
McFarlane, 53, was killed by a stray bullet as the men were firing at another man.
In police custody is 16-year-old Shane Gordon of Lot 173 Campbell and Sussex streets, Albouystown and Shemroy Patterson, 23, a security guard of Linden.
In an intelligence-led operation, the two men were arrested at No.53 Village, Corentyne, Berbice on November 21, 2022 between 16:00 hrs and 17:45 hrs.
McFarlance had just exited a bus and was making his way home, just a few meters away, when the stray bullet hit him; he fell into a drain and died while the suspects escaped.
McFarlane’s body bore a single gunshot wound to the left side chest. The suspects were reportedly chasing a man when they opened gunfire.
