Shivnarine Ayana called Sashi, 47, is counting his losses after fire ravaged his John Village, Corentyne, Berbice house early Wednesday morning.
Reports are that the fisherman lived alone. On Tuesday, he locked up his house and left to go fishing in the Auchlyne backdam at around 23:30 hrs.
Hours later, when he returned, he saw the house on fire.
The man immediately contacted the Rose Hall Fire Station. Although firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze, nothing could be saved.
