A minibus driver was arrested on Saturday for assaulting Police Lance Corporal Singh. A video posted on social media shows Okemi Omali Harry, 30, of Middle Street, Ann’s Grove, East Coast Demerara involved in a fight with the Lance Corporal. The incident occurred at about 17:00hrs along the Montrose, East Coast Demerara.
Police said Harry was stopped for speeding and asked to produce his license.
“While Lance Corporal Singh was in the process of writing the driver a ticket, the driver made attempts to take away his license from Corporal Singh, who refused. The driver then started to assault the Police rank,” the police reported.
A mobile patrol responded and the driver was subsequently arrested and placed into custody pending charges.
