On the opening day of Table Tennis at the Inter-Guiana Games (IGG), Guyana won seven of the eight match-ups in the Mixed Team component at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue, Georgetown.

With only Guyana and Suriname participating in Table Tennis, National Under-15 champion Colin Wong dispatched his Surinamese counterpart, Shariq Bipat 3-1 (11-9, 11-13, 11-4, 11-9), after which the young prodigy, Jasmin Billingy, cruised to an 11-1, 11-5, 11-3 triumph over Maria Kanhai.

In the Mixed Doubles, Saalih Rahmin and Billingy topped Bipat and Kanhai 11-8, 11-1, 11-6, but Bipat got the better of Guyanese Ebo McNeil, winning 10-12, 11-8, 8-11, 11-9, 12-10.

Samara Sukhai easily won 11-4, 11-4, 11-1 against Yasmien Jodiwongso and Akira Watson outclassed Kayleigh Idrisman 11-4, 11-7, 11-4.

The Girls’ Doubles were pretty much the same, as Shackery Damon and Seona Baker ousted Jodiwongso and Idrisman 11-2, 7-11, 11-9, 12-10.

The final match saw Rahmin top Bipat 13-11, 11-3, 12-10.

Table Tennis action continues on Sunday from 09:00h to 14:00h at the same venue.
