Nationals 2022: District 10 crowned cycling champs; District Seven impressive
The Cycling segment of the 60th National Schools Athletics, Cycling and Swimming Championships concluded on Monday with District 10 emerging the overall champions.
The riders from Upper Demerara/Kwakwani amassed 245 points to win ahead of District Seven (Cuyuni Mazaruni) on 228 points and District Six (Corentyne) on 204 points.
They were the only districts to accumulate more than 200 points from the Road Race on Sunday around the outer circuit of the National Park and the Finals on Monday on the inner circuit.
The standout performer for District 10 was national rider Clivecia Spencer, who was unbeaten in all her events. The student/athlete won quite comfortably in the Road Race and the three Open races.
Notably, a team from St. Michael’s Private School in Mongrippa Hill in Bartica took the competition by storm, winning 10 events, placing second in seven and third in six.
