Treon Goppy, 19, a labourer of Enterprise, East Coast Demerara is now dead after he was involved in an accident along the Buxton Public Road on Tuesday.
The accident occurred at about 12:30hrs and involved a motorcar PWW 6861, driven by 43-year-old Buxton resident Kwame Gentle, and a motorcycle CK 7430 driven by Devon Grant, a 22-year-old ExxonMobil worker of Friendship, East Coast Demerara. Police Headquarters reported that Goppy, who worked at Nabi Construction, was the pillion rider.
According to reports, Gentle was proceeding east along the northern driving lane when he alleged that he put on his left-side indicator to pull north and felt an impact to the left side front of his vehicle.
Gentle said he then observed Grant and Goppy on the northern parapet with injuries about their bodies.
EMTs were contacted and took Grant and Goppy to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Police said Goppy died whilst receiving treatment.
Grant is admitted to the hospital suffering from head injuries.
Police said a breathalyser test was conducted on the 43-year-old driver of the car and no trace of alcohol was found. He is in custody assisting with the ongoing investigation.
